New Dryer Vent Installation in North Jersey

Adding a laundry room to a finished basement, an addition, or a condo conversion? We design and install a brand-new code-compliant vent system from scratch.

When you need a new vent installed

  • Finishing a basement and adding a laundry area where there wasn't one.
  • Renovating a condo and relocating the dryer to a different wall.
  • Building an addition with a new utility room.
  • Switching from a ventless dryer to a vented model.
  • Replacing an existing vent that was installed wrong from day one and isn't worth saving.

What a proper installation looks like

  • 4" rigid galvanized metal duct, never flexible foil, for the in-wall portion of the run.
  • Foil tape on every joint, never screws — screws catch lint and slowly choke the line.
  • Smooth elbows, count minimized, never two 90° elbows back-to-back.
  • Total equivalent length under 35 feet per code (90° elbows count as 5 feet each).
  • Slight downward slope toward the exterior so condensation drains out.
  • Metal exterior cap with a working damper and pest screen, sealed and flashed.
  • Final airflow test at the exterior with an anemometer.

What we coordinate with

We work alongside your general contractor, electrician and plumber. For a basement laundry, we typically come in once the framing is up and before drywall, then return to install the exterior cap and connect the dryer once the room is finished. We don't do drywall finish work, but we coordinate with whoever does.

Permits

Most North Jersey municipalities don't require a separate dryer vent permit when no structural work is involved, but we'll let you know if your job needs one. For full additions or finished-basement permits, the dryer vent is typically rolled into the contractor's mechanical permit.

Pricing

New installations are quoted on-site. Typical range for a residential install: $650 – $1,400 depending on run length, wall material, and whether the exterior is masonry or siding.
